Deadwood,
South Dakota
The name “Deadwood” conjures up all kinds of visions in ones mind: Gold fields, miners, gambling,
loose women and of course Indians, soldiers and some of the most famous people
of west. Wild Bill Hickock, Wyatt Earp,
Calamity Jane, and Col George Armstrong Custer, all were in Deadwood at one
time or another.
Today, the town of Deadwood is now on the National Historic
Register. The town is currently
conducting legalized gambling in the hopes that they will be able to secure
sufficient revenue to restore all of the buildings of old Deadwood.
Deadwood is sitting in the middle of some beautiful country
and has abundant tours, museums, recreation and wildlife to enjoy.
