Wonderful Wyoming
The Famous Oregon Trail

Our nation would be very different today if it hadn’t been for the determined and courageous individuals who decided to go west in the 1830’s through the end of the 19th century, on the trails that had to go across Wyoming. The California Trail, Mormon Trail, Overland Trail and our trail of interest this month, the Oregon Trail.

One website you may want to check out has a ‘Virtual Tour’ that takes you down the Oregon Trail. If you are interested, click on website, then click on ‘Jumping Off’ on the right side of website, then put your curser on ‘Virtual Tour on the left side of site. It is the red trail. Put your curser on Scott’s Bluff on the west side of what is now Nebraska and travel across Wyoming with the rest of the emigrants.

Another site has an ‘Auto Tour Route Interpretive Guide’ that gives a good description of items people felt were going to be important in the new land and animals, food and equipment they took with them. This also has a few photographs of some of the locations.
